Flower City Brass is with Eastman Wind Ensemble!
Flower City Brass was thrilled to Perform with the revered Eastman Wind Ensemble
Members of Flower City Brass performed within the Eastman Wind Ensemble during its May 2017 trip to Niagara Falls. The Eastman Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Mark Davis Scatterday, featured the Flower City Brass on the second concert of its Spring 2018 series. In celebration of resident composer, Jeff Tyzik, the quintet will perform his New York Cityscape, a programmatic suite in five movements that the EWE commissioned back in 2007 with the Canadian Brass. The piece featured a variety of musical styles, presenting a collage of the cultural diversities comprised within New York City. The five movements are subtitled:
I. Ragtime Redux (28th & 5th)
II. Tango 1932 (103rd & Riverside)
III. Traffic Jammin’ (Times Square Day & Night)
IV. African Dance (Wall Street and East River Ca. 1709)
V. Tarantella (Mulberry Street)
The program also featured two works by Jennifer Higdon, Fanfare Ritmico and
